Happy with the commitment and dedication of young girls and women that are into cap making in Gwandu local government area of Kebbi State, the Sardauna of Gwandu, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rasheed has earmarked Three Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N3,500,000) to support the young entrepreneurs.
The Sardauna said, this is to motivate them considering the current efforts of the Kebbi state governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on empowering the vulnerable and less privileged.
While flagging of the cash distribution at the house of the District Head of Gwandu, the Sardaunan Gwandu, who is also the Adviser to the Kebbi state governor on Political Matters disclosed that 700 entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the gift.
The Sarkin Gabas of Gwandu and District Head of Gwandu, Alhaji Bello Haruna thanked the kind gesture of the Sardauna and called on other members of the society as well as donor organizations to emulate the practice of the Sardauna by supporting hardworking young girls and women that are into the cap making business.
The District Head said that this is the first time such support is coming to the girls and women involved in the business.
He further informed that cap making is a household business which is practiced in each and every house across the local government area, and has been in existence for time immemorial.
The Co-ordinator of the State Youth Empowerment Programme/YESSO, Hon. Usman Buhari Ali Gwandu called on the beneficiaries to make sure they utilize the money for the purpose it is given to them.
The Co-ordinator further disclosed that the beneficiaries are expected to get Five Thousand Naira each in two installments with initial Two Thousand, and additional Three Thousand Naira after ascertaining the utilization of the money.
